I was walking around Ulaanbaatar on my first day there. I always like to do that when I arrive in a new city, just walk around with no specific destination in mind. It’s a good way to get a feel for a city, I think.
In this case I ended up at the main square, Genghis Khan Square, where I spent some time looking at the people coming and going. And at one point these soldiers and their photographer showed up. I managed to get this photo of them, but not without other people around, I tried to, but it didn’t happen before the soldiers were done with their photo shoot.
NB: The man sitting up there in the background is Genghis Khan.
Here’s a before and after, well, sort of. It’s more like with and without people.
